Progress! My uncle has been here from Houston all week and thru the weekend working on building our custom kitchen cabinetry! He’s been working so hard and he is so detail oriented – we’re so impressed and excited about the outcome. We’re so lucky to have such handy family members that are willing to be hired out by us. We’re doing birch interiors to the custom cabinets with walnut face frames and fronts. They are going to be gorgeous! Will post more pics soon once we make a little more progress. My wonderful hubby is helping out when he isn’t at work and also learning a lot about woodworking and cabinet making, so it’s a double bonus!
Here is my uncle Tom (and Mike – his hand anyway) planing the walnut for the frames.

Below are a few shots of the walnut boards that we are using for the face frames. They are gorgeous pieces of wood.

This is the walnut ply that is being used for the door and drawer fronts. It will be edge banded with veneer.

Below are a couple of our upper cabinets almost built out, sans the doors.

And a few shots of the progress in the kitchen thus far.
