our last vintage letter arrived!

31 Aug

Here they are! Overall we love them but are unsure about a few things…

1 – The K is really small. Too small? We couldn’t find another K that we liked that wasn’t crazy expensive…

2 – We have the opposite problem with the S. Is it too large or does the large A balance it out enough?

3 – Love the B, love the N, and love the A too but it’s sort of pink. I love pink, but maybe not in our main living area. We are thinking of spray painting it a bold yellow. Would that be just wrong? I hate to lose the “worn” vintage feel of it, so I’m torn…

4 – We are thinking of hanging them in the space right above our front door…thoughts?

I love them all as-is…it is going to look so awesome above the door! I’d love to do this someday!

They look great. I wouldn’t paint the pink–you’re right, losing the worn look would take away some of the character, I think. And the shade of pink doesn’t seem too over-the-top…but pink is my favorite color, so I’m probably biased. :) The K is small and the S is large, but not in bad ways. I’m sure it’ll be fantastic in the end!

I also like the pink and think it would look good over the door. But if you’re not too fond of the color for your living space… I say make it the color you like. Maybe mask it off and just paint the pink parts.

Are you going to hang them all on a baseline (graphic designer talking here hehe) or are you going to make them more random in placement? I think a random placement would help with the size differences, but it might be too chaotic for what you are looking for? Just a thought!

You could always spray the “A” yellow and then take some steel wool or something to “distress” it once it is dry to get a more aged look. It would let some of the pink show through, or you could paint it another color and then yellow and distress it if you didn’t want any pink. I like the pink myself, but on the darker teal wall which is near the same value as the pink it might not stand out as much as the other letters….that might make your mind up right there about changing the color…..

    Decisions, decisions!
