I’m Heather. I’m a 34 year old photographer (Eclectic Images) living in Austin, Texas. Mike is my husband, he’s 40 and a facilities manager in Austin. We have an amazing daughter Zoey who is almost a year old and two Boston Terriers, Linus and Moo. For going on the past three years we’ve been remodeling a cool 1970′s house we purchased together in South Austin. We have a lot going on! But, we’re really, really happy.

- bathroom is DONE! May 24, 2013Two major things happened this week. The bathroom is DONE, and we got permit approval for the remodel/addition (only about a month after we submitted the plans, which surprised the heck out of us since we had heard that the permit backlog with the City of Austin was causing permits to take 2-3 months or […]
- so close… May 15, 2013The big reno is still in the works. We are waiting for the final, final bid from our contractor as well as our 2012 taxes (we filed an extension like we usually do to find out that the bank is requiring them to be done). Oh, and we did submit our plans for permits, but […]
- upstairs bathroom remodel | it’s happening! April 30, 2013We finally pulled the trigger on the upstairs bathroom remodel! Our goal is to have this bathroom done before we start the main house remodel, and we are well on the way! We purchased all of the materials/finishes and hired a contractor to do all the install/work. So far, so good! The bones of this […]
- round top/warrenton antiques weekend April 5, 2013Two posts in one week? What?! I must have a fever I made two trips out to the huge Round Top/Warrenton antiques fair this year (my first time to EVER go)! I didn’t realize how close it was to Austin (about an hour and 20 minutes!) – if I had known I am sure I […]
- palm springs (mid century architecture mecca) and san diego! April 2, 2013I wanted to share a bunch photos from the fun family vacation we took to Palm Springs and San Diego in February! Our daughter Zoey is 2 1/2 and finally old enough to really have fun going places and doing things with us, so we decided to take a family vacation (and one where I […]
- still chugging along… March 19, 2013Sadly, no news to report on the remodel front. We are waiting on the final contractor bid and then we will submit the plans for permitting. Who knows how long that will take?! I never thought it would take this long, but then again I am not really surprised. I am getting itchy fingers though […]
- remodel plans and updates February 3, 2013Shame on me, it’s been SO very long since I last posted. Not for lack of trying, but I’ve been busy, busy trying to finish editing all of my pre-xmas wedding and portrait shoots as well as working on a super secret business Mike and I are starting together. Well, it was super secret but […]
- blood, sweat, and an emergency plumber call (on a sunday) December 9, 2012Look what we started today! We were chugging along with demo of the upstairs bath thinking “we got this” when the wall hit the shower handle as it was coming down. Oops. The handle broke, water was spewing everywhere. Mike ran outside to turn off the water and in the meantime the water trickled down […]
- sneak peek | kitchen December 4, 2012We’ve been working with an awesome architect duo (and soon to be husband and wife) Alex Odom and Kelsey Harper to come up with plans for our remodel/addition to the house over the past couple of months. We had a meeting this weekend and we just about finalized everything, with a few tweaks to go […]

Rugsusa.com is having 75% off and free shipping, the code is CYBER75. I’ve been stalking this rug for our living room, and I just got this rug in an 8×10 for […]

LOVE your blog! I actually found it through your wedding photog site! I wanted to compliment you on everything! Your photos, renovation – everything…it’s all so wonderful! We actually have a lot of common as I, too, am a wedding photographer (http://thewhiterabbitstudios.com/) and undergoing a home restoration (http://therealverticalhouse.com/) as well! I found you while looking for photogs for my new wedding blog called Hi-Fi Weddings (http://hifiweddings.com/) and I was actually hoping to feature some of your work! If you have any music obsessed/inspired brides, grooms, general shoots…whatever! I’d love to feature them
From one photog/renovator to another – VERY nice to “meet” you and keep up the awesome work my dear!
xoxo – Ashley

Hi Heather and Mike,
My name is Andy. I live in Olympia, WA…an hours drive South of Seattle. I am up at 3:40am watching a dvr’d episode of…yes, The Brady Bunch! Ha!! Anyway, I have always had a true love for residential architecture. I have worked for a number of architectural firms as a draftsperson and have been inspecting homes for the past 15 years. I think seeing the Brady Bunch house…err, stage set was one of the reasons I have the passion I do for homes and their design. I stumbled across your blog while doing a Google search for “Brady Bunch house floorplan”. I think your place is awesome! What a time capsule. I have only looked at your November blog and am looking forward to checking out the rest!!! Keep up the great work.
(BTW…my mom, sister, her b/f and neice recently moved to Austin to get away from the gloomy weather up here. They love it there!)
Take care,
Andy
Hey Andy,
It’s great to hear from you! Ahh, where you live is on our short list of places we must visit soon! Neither of us have ever been that far up the West coast! Thanks for your comments – and I hope you enjoy checking out the rest of our blog. It’s been quite the project and we are still not done!

Hi Heather,
You have inspired me to do a remodel…I have to say after seeing the “mad men” wall mounted clock on 2903 Wade Avenue I have spent HOURS looking for one just like it but none compare…. I am in love….. Do you have any suggestions of how I could find out where the clock is from? maybe the place you found out about the house tour and I could ask them who the interior designer is… I would be soooooo thankful. warm wishes

Came upon your blog while looking for some interior pictures of The Brady Bunch house – I’ve spent at least the last 2 hours looking at all the progress! Completely in love with your house! (That sunken shower is the grooviest shower I’ve ever seen!) Wish I could just move in!
I just love all your decorating & style, very much like my own! You have a beautiful family, by the way!
Hi Sierra,
Thanks so much for stopping by and spending some time here – so glad you like our house! You are so sweet! I haven’t updated in a while but please check in again!
Are you guys still happy with your sofa sectional? Is it wearing well? We’re thinking of getting the same thing in a different fabric.
Yes, we are happy with it. It seems to be wearing pretty well with the dogs and toddler considered. The only thing we might change is we probably would have gotten the firm instead of medium density cushions – they seem to soften pretty quickly…
